How to Write for Famous Business Magazines

from:

A business article is a brief, self-reliant writing piece that is typically published in one or more of the many famous business magazines on the market today. Business articles for famous business magazines are usually more factual and formal than other writing types such as columns or entertainment pieces. Business articles that are submitted to famous business magazines must be written in an individual and informative style.

Writing a business article on your business for one or several famous business magazines is quite an effective way of promoting your company or home business.

Your business article will have a greater affect if published in one of the famous business magazines that are read by your target audience. It is important to choose topics that would interest your target customers. Contact the editors of these magazines to find out if they have an interest in the article that you would like to write. It is very important to know that your business article is going to be published before taking the time to write it. If you send a query letter to the editor and they commission you to write the article, you know there is a good chance of it being published in the magazine.

You could write a business article about a particular topic for which the editor will give you an idea of the details that they want to be covered in your article. On the other hand, you may be able to simply submit a general article that you have written about your company with few guidelines to follow. No matter what you choose to write your business article about be sure to keep your target readers in mind and write about what interests them.

In addition, if you plan to submit an article without solicitation, you stand a greater chance of your article being chosen by the editor for publication if you write on a topic that complements the theme of their business magazine. Just an article about you and your business may not be an exciting read for all members of your target audience. Be creative and write a good business article that will draw positive attention to your business.

You should always know the length of the article that is expected. The editor may tell you up front or you may have to ask. You can get a generally estimate by calculating the average length of the other articles that are already published in the magazine.

Most business articles are anywhere from 300 to 500 words, which is quite easy to write. For longer articles, you may be required to do more research to come up with enough material. It is important for all parts of your article to be interesting to the reader, avoid filler text and double talk to make up word requirements.

A good rule of thumb is to write an interesting fact filled business article that you would find helpful and enjoy reading. There is a good chance that your target readers will relate to and benefit from your article if you write something that you like as well.
